A timeless expression of Scandinavian charm
Our creative process is deeply rooted in Scandinavian design traditions and inspired by the beauty of nature. Every design begins as a hand-drawn sketch, influenced by flora, classic illustrations, or pure imagination. These sketches are carefully digitised, where days, or even months, are spent perfecting a pattern with seamless flow and stunning dynamics.
Once the design takes shape, we dive into the meticulous art of colour research. Our designer hand-mixes dyes to achieve harmonious combinations of hues and shades, often favouring earthy tones that create a calming, tranquil atmosphere.
At Norrviva, we believe wallcoverings do more than decorate—they bring character, warmth, and elegance to any space.
Crafted with care
Our wallpapers are manufactured using traditional surface print techniques, a method that gives each roll its unique charm. The process involves transferring the design onto the wallpaper using engraved rollers over a soft surface, creating slight unpredictability in the ink transfer.
The wet-on-wet printing method adds another layer of depth, occasionally allowing colours to bleed for a hand-painted effect. This craftsmanship results in vibrant patterns with subtle variations and a character distinct from modern, uniform printing techniques.
Although the process is mechanical, many aspects, like colour mixing, are done by hand by skilled artisans. Each roll is crafted with great care, ensuring exceptional quality and a timeless aesthetic.
New! Fine art prints
In addition to our wallpapers, we create exquisite art prints that bring the same care and attention to detail to your walls.
Printed in Stockholm on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 fine art paper, our prints capture every nuance of the design, ensuring vibrant colours and textures.
Each print is crafted with precision, combining the timeless charm of Scandinavian design with exceptional quality. Whether you’re complementing your wallpaper or adding a standalone piece of art, our prints bring a touch of elegance to your space.
Responsible production
Sustainability is at the core of Norrviva’s philosophy. Our wallpapers are made with non-woven materials sourced from FSC-certified suppliers and adhere to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. This blend of paper mass and recycled synthetic fibres ensures durability and ease of installation.
We use water-based, eco-friendly dyes sourced from the Netherlands, free from PVC, solvents, heavy metals, and harmful substances. Our manufacturing process complies with Swedish and European regulations, including REACH legislation. Excess dyes are recycled, minimising waste.
The factory’s energy is CO₂ compensated, with solar power taking an increasing role. By the end of 2023, most of our energy will come from solar panels. Additionally, we use sustainable transport certified by The Nordic Swan Ecolabel and prioritise packaging materials like Swedish-made paperboard to further reduce our environmental impact.
The human touch behind every roll
Our wallpapers are more than products—they are the result of skilled craftsmanship by passionate artisans. At every step, from sketching to colour mixing, experienced hands bring each design to life with precision and care.
The printing process itself, while mechanical, requires years of expertise to perfect. Colour mixing, roller preparation, and quality control are all done by hand, ensuring each roll meets our exacting standards. It’s this dedication to detail that gives Norrviva wallpapers their distinct character and beauty.
