Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT DOES "NON-WOVEN" MEAN?
Non-woven is a mixed material of paper mass and synthetic fibres. The combination makes the material form-resistant and easy to install. Synthetic fibres are made from recycled sources such as PET bottles. Non-woven wallpapers are easy to install because you put the adhesive directly on the wall instead of on the wallpaper. Because the wallpaper is placed edge to edge, you get nice and seamless joints.
HOW MANY ROLLS DO I NEED?
The lengths of our wallpapers are 53 cm wide and 10 m long.
You can use our Wallpaper Calculator to calculate how many rolls you need for your room. It is a helpful tool which you can find on each product page. Note that the calculation is a tool of estimation, and Norrviva is not responsible for inaccuracies.
The calculator does not consider doors, windows, and other irregularities for measuring the number of rolls needed. If you need more clarification about how many rolls of wallpaper you need, you should consult an expert before ordering.
ARE THE WALLPAPERS SAFE?
Yes, all wallpapers are free of PVC, solvents, heavy metals or harmful substances.
Our wallpapers have the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100* Certification and the European Fire Classification EN 13501 (fire class C-s1, d0**).
* If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, every component of this article has been tested for harmful substances, and the article is harmless for human health.
**Fire class C-s1, d0 means a product that contributes to a fire to a limited extent; its smoke production is very limited or absent, and it does not produce flaming droplets.
WHERE IS THE WALLPAPER MADE?
Our wallpapers are designed and made in Sweden at Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik. The non-woven material comes from Germany, and the dyes come from the Netherlands.
ARE THE WALLPAPERS CLIMATE-FRIENDLY?
Buying new things is hardly ever climate-friendly, but we are doing our best to reduce our impact on the planet.
We make our wallpapers from Non-woven material from FSC-certified sources.
Non-woven is a mixed material of paper mass and synthetic fibres. The combination makes the material form-resistant and easy to install. Our supplier uses recycled sources such as PET-bottles to make synthetic fibres. Our paper manufacturers are currently exploring the possibilities for products made of 100% natural fibres. Hopefully, this is something we can soon offer in our assortment.
The colours come from the Netherlands and are water-based. They are free of PVC, solvents, heavy metals or harmful substances. The binder is made of titanium dioxide and styrene-acrylic-polymer. The composition of colours and coating complies with Swedish and European regulations and the REACH legislation. We recycle excess dyes in production.
Energy used at the factory is Co2 compensated; some come from reused production waste, and some come from green LPG. Before the end of 2023, most of the energy used in production in planned to be sourced from solar panels.
Transport within Sweden is certified sustainable by The Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
The plastic film used to protect the wallpapers before shipping is made of organic materials. The paperboard is made in Sweden.
WHAT IS A FSC CERTIFICATE?
According to the official Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an FSC certification product comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
Which Wallpaper paste/adhesive should I use?
We recommend using a high-quality adhesive especially made for heavy non-woven wallpapers.
For Swedish customers, we recommend using the Bostik Hernia Non-Woven wallpaper adhesive, an adhesive approved by the STB (the Swedish Wallpaper Council).
What is THE COLOUR CODE OF THE WALLPAPER?
All colours are mixed by hand at the wallpaper factory. Colour mixing is a genuine craft; therefore, supplying any exact colour codes is impossible.
However, if you take a sample of the wallpaper to a paint shop, they can help you mix a colour matching your wallpaper.
WHY DON'T THE WALLPAPERS LOOK LIKE IN THE PICTURES?
We try our hardest to present our wallpapers accurately but bear in mind that colours are perceived differently in reality and on screens. Sometimes colour differs slightly from reality to how they look in a photo. And colours look pretty different from screen to screen. Note also that the light settings of the environment can affect how colours are perceived.
We recommend ordering a sample for help with colour thoughts and choices. Put the sample on your wall, and see how different lights of the day stunningly interact with the colours of the wallpaper (morning, mid-day, night, with lamps and without).
CAN I ORDER Wallpaper SAMPLES?
Of course! The samples are cut randomly in A4 size from chosen wallpaper and shipped to your mailbox in a few days. Note that it is not possible to return or refund wallpaper samples.
DO YOU SELL SELF-ADHESIVE WALLPAPERS?
No, we don't. Our material is the highest quality available on the market and lasts longer than self-adhesive wallpapers when applied correctly. We don't find self-adhesive wallpapers easier to install; there is a lot of work to avoid bubbles, ensure that patterns match and get the optimal result.
CAN I COAT MY WALLPAPER?
Yes, you can; please ask advice to your local paint shop. It might affect appearance, and we are not responsible for any damages or impact that the chosen coating could have.
We believe that - except if you want to install wallpaper in a bathroom or near a cooking hob - your Norrviva wallpaper should last long without coating. Please refer to our care instructions.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO install A WALLPAPER ONTO ANOTHER WALLPAPER?
Yes, it is possible. However, you should ensure that the surface of your old wallpaper is smooth and regular. The best result will be achieved by cleaning the walls and applying a primer or undercoat if your old wallpaper has dark colours and significant contrast.
Can I change my order? How do I make a return?
Yes, before shipping and until 60 days after collection of the parcel. Please check our Exchange and Return policy.
Can I track my order?
Yes, you will receive an email with tracking information when your order is processed and shipped.
What are the shipping costs?
Our delivery costs are calculated in real-time and charged accordingly. Several options are available when ordering (UPS, FedEx, DHL), and prices vary depending on delivery time and shipping company.
How long is the delivery time?
Depending on the location for the wallpapers to be shipped, it may vary between 3 and 10 days if the item is in stock. If the item is out of stock, the delivery could take up to 6 weeks.
Where do I find Norrviva Retailers?
All our products can be bought at our webshop and at retailers, both online and in-store.
Please check our retailers.
What happens if I order too few rolls?
Before ordering additional rolls, please get in touch with our customer support to ensure you get the same batch number as the original order. Because wallpapers are printed in batches, colours may vary slightly between each batch.
Can I install Norrviva wallpapers in the bathroom?
Our wallpapers are made without PVC, so they are better for human health and the environment. Norrviva wallpapers are made of high-quality material and can be applied in rooms with water access, such as small sinks and toilets.
However, they should not be exposed to high humidity or direct contact with water. If you want to put wallpaper close to a bath or a shower, the wallpaper should be coated with an appropriate coating for high-quality non-woven wallpapers. Note that coating might change the appearance of the wallpapers.
Can I clean my wallpaper?
Yes, the wallpapers could be cleaned, but with caution. Please read our care instructions.
